This article is written for the benefit and understanding of the church in Montana. It will bring forth a revelation of principalities and powers operating over the state of Montana. This spiritual map is intended to help aid the church in the area of spiritual warfare prayer, intercession, and repentance. While it’s obvious that we don’t focus on the enemy, if we are not aware of Satanic schemes; we are setting ourselves up for failure. To be ignorant of the spirit realm will actually bring forth our desolation, for we our destroyed by our lack of spiritual knowledge (Hosea 4:6).
The New Testament church is to be engaged in the spiritual battle as we struggle against spiritual forces of wickedness in the atmosphere above the earth (Ephesians 6:10-12). Those who ignore this spiritual truth in scripture will suffer many unnecessary defeats by the enemy. Failure to address the rulers of darkness will likely fail in procuring a spiritual revival in various regions.
Jesus understood the operations of the spirit realm. Everywhere He went, demons cried out and He ministered deliverance publicly. If we are going to be His disciples, then we actually have to follow what He does. He told His disciples to cast out demons (Matthew 10:7-8), and not to do so is disobedience. In regard to casting out demons and spiritual warfare, Jesus stated: “He who is not with Me is against Me, and he who does not gather with Me scatters abroad.” (Matthew 12:30 NKJV)
Unfortunately I have seen believers in the Charismatic Movement that are against Jesus, because they refuse to talk about and address the demonic like Jesus did. By their lack of obedience they prove that they are not true disciples. I have seen pastors and believers scattered by the enemy because of their refusal to follow Christ in this area. Brothers and sisters, let us not be like believers who have our “own way of doing things.” Spiritual pride of the self-life embraces humanism instead of obeying the Master. Humility follows every word and deed of Jesus. Leaders and believers coming together, can bind the strong spirits over the region and drive them out of the area:
“But if I cast out demons by the Spirit of God, surely the kingdom of God has come upon you. Or how can one enter a strong man’s house and plunder his goods, unless he first binds the strong man? And then he will plunder his house.” (Matthew 12:28-29 NKJV)
If leaders and believers choose to do nothing then the ruling spirits will remain, and the spiritual change desired will most likely not occur. The church can make a difference if they unify.
This article would not have been possible without the spiritual insight from the late Georgia Penniman. Georgia was a prophetic intercessor that lived and ministered in the Mission Valley of Northwestern Montana in Ronan. For many years she was apart of YWAM, and her ministry was called “Montana Intercessors.” I had the pleasure of knowing Georgia and working work her for a short time. The Lord revealed to her (and other intercessors) many of the principalities and powers found in this article. I will add additional teaching, commentary, and personal experiences when describing the spiritual powers that Georgia discerned. Later in the article I will discuss solutions to seeing breakthrough in the Flathead Valley.
First I will discuss the principalities and powers over the Flathead Valley. These ruling spirits are also prevalent in other parts of Montana, and the Holy Spirit will reveal to you what spirits are in your area as you read. Later in the article I will give more spiritual insight to ruling spirits that are over the entire state. I have written an article on Principalities (Fallen Angels) that has additional understanding in this area. A friend told me that the late John Paul Jackson prophesied that “Montana is a dangerous place in the spirit.” I have found this to be an accurate prophetic word. Knowing the truth and acting on it will help those that live in Montana to make it a safer place in the spirit; for their families and for their region.
The Flathead Valley
Six principalities were discerned over the Flathead Valley:
Spirit of Division - divorce, separation, division in the body of Christ and churches, church splits, dissension, discord, discouragement, critical, negative, distrust, resentment, and hurts.
Spirit of Infirmity - sickness, diseases, and accidents.
Spirit of Apathy - lethargy, depression, oppression, mental problems, suicide, and abortion.
Spirit of Greed - Lust, covetousness, entitlement, poverty/welfare mentality, anger, abuse, murder, and “have to work” attitude.
Spirit of Witchcraft - false religions, New Age, Satanism, Buddhism, Idolatry, Jezebel/Ahab, Leviathan, and Python.
Lying Spirit - perverts truth, distorted communication, addictions (gambling), alcoholism, drugs, thievery, pornography, promiscuity, fornication, adultery, and sexual immorality.
Division
My wife and I lived in the Flathead Valley of Northwestern Montana for 12 years. The church in the Flathead Valley was very divided. This is not a criticism, but a reality that we and others experienced. I confirmed that Georgia’s discernment of this principality over the valley is accurate.
My wife and I saw numerous marriages dissolved, as this ruling spirit of division wrecked havoc on this most sacred union. Small cracks in marriages left a space for dark spirits to crawl through. Once inside the marriage relationship, these demons tore them apart. For many others, unnecessary battles occurred within the marriage because of the ruling spirit of division. This spirit wants to remain hidden so that believers will not address it in prayer. If believers do not address the spirit, it will continue to overthrow marriages, and affect many others.
Division in the church was prevalent. I can see this even more clearly after living in Alabama for the last two and a half years (at the time of this writing, December 2021). When I was under the cloud of division in Montana, I simply couldn’t discern or see as well. When you are under a principality, you can be influenced by them; from one degree to another. Sometimes when you come out from under that dark influence, you see what you could not before. It may be hard for some who live in Montana to hear and receive this message for this very reason. However the longer I have been out from under the spiritual darkness in Montana, the more accurately I see the truth.
Instead of the Flathead Valley being one church or the body of Christ in a region, is was divided into different “churches.” The body parts were separated and therefore unable to form the body. Many of the leaders wanted “their ministry” to be the biggest and most popular. This competition caused division, but the source of the competition was the principality of division. Some leaders were negative towards young new leaders, and did what they could to keep them contained or bound up. Jealousy fueled their motives, and created division. Instead of young spiritual leaders being mentored and released into what the Lord had called them, we witnessed young leaders oppressed into the slavery while their callings were stifled. This divided a generation against another. Instead of Fathers and Mothers raising up sons and daughters in the Flathead Valley, orphan leaders were keeping young leaders from arising into their callings.
We saw this oppression lead to discouragement, negativity, distrust, resentment, and believers being hurt. The principality of division was the source, and the church lying in ruins was the result. Instead of a healthy leadership raising the next generation of leaders, division abounded. Many believers were carrying deep hurt. Leadership distrusted young leaders, which caused young leaders to distrust the current leadership. Some leadership in the Flathead Valley had never won the battle internally against these enemies mentioned, and therefore they produced outwardly what was inside of them (which caused division).
The hurt and discouragement infected the body of Christ and caused her to be sick. Instead of a healthy and vibrant life force moving in the power of the Spirit, she was simply surviving. Division is the greatest enemy in the Flathead Valley, and many other places throughout Montana. Gathering with the church should have been safe, but because of the place given to the spirit of division; gathering with the church became spiritually dangerous. Many believers scattered throughout the Flathead Valley, no longer attending corporate meetings. Being hurt by leadership and believers operating under the spirit of division, they simply couldn’t handle gathering corporately any longer.
These believers should have been allowed to heal, but instead judgment was cast on them for “leaving the church.” But the truth is no believer can leave the church. If you are a believer in Jesus than you are the church. To leave the church would mean to leave Christ. But these precious saints just needed time to heal. Time for the Master to touch them and make them whole from their wounds. However, the criticism spoken by certain leaders and others condemned these believers for no longer coming to meetings. The division increased, wounds could not heal, and the hurt multiplied.
Infirmity
Many people we knew in Montana suffered from infirmities. I developed a detached retina and had to have surgery. My wife developed chronic pain in her body. Others with severe sicknesses have been prayed for throughout the years without any manifestation of healing. Some may find it hard to believe that a principality over a certain area could cause or prevent people from being healed. If we take a look at the scriptures, this understanding comes to light. In Luke 10:13-14, Jesus prophesies judgment against Bethsaida for not repenting. When judgment is issued over a geographical area, God’s grace lifts from that area and the enemy is allowed to move in and have authority. Later, Jesus actually had to bring a man outside of the city of Bethsaida so that he could be healed:
“Then He came to Bethsaida; and they brought a blind man to Him, and begged Him to touch him. So He took the blind man by the hand and led him out of the town. And when He had spit on his eyes and put His hands on him, He asked him if he saw anything. And he looked up and said, “I see men like trees, walking.” Then He put His hands on his eyes again and made him look up. And he was restored and saw everyone clearly. Then He sent him away to his house, saying, “Neither go into the town, nor tell anyone in the town.”” (Mark 8:22-26 NKJV)
Since a principality had moved in over that city, Jesus had to take the man outside its sphere of authority so the man could receive healing. The satanic oppression was so strong, that Jesus actually had to pray twice for this man to be fully healed. When Jesus was finished, He told the man not to go back to that town. Sometimes you cannot be healed of an infirmity if you are under the ruling spirit of infirmity. Ideally, the ruling spirit needs to be displaced, but until that happens you should seek the Lord on His plan for your healing. Do what the Spirit tells you to do, and be healed in Jesus name!
Apathy
This principality has been the source of depression which has lead to suicides throughout Montana. This spirit influences believers and causes them to have a lack of interest in the Lord and His kingdom. When we do not have a burning concern for the Kingdom, our hearts begin focusing on ourselves. When we focus on ourselves or worldly things or concerns, it opens us up to be influenced by a spirit of heaviness. These spirits cloud us in depression like a fog, and our spiritual sight is now very limited. The longer people stay bound in heaviness and depression, the more susceptible they are to suicidal thoughts. These thoughts, if meditated on, will open the door to demons of suicide. Once these spirits get strong enough in a person’s soul, suicide can result. Sadly this has happened to a number of believers in the Flathead Valley and other parts of Montana.
The principality of apathy’s goal is to make believers indifferent towards God, and turn their attention to their own wants and needs. This self-focus keeps believers bound in a cycle of always praying for themselves, instead of contending for the Lord’s eternal will through prayer and intercession.
Greed
This ruling spirit influences people to lust after the pride of life. The desire to be known or recognized among people was strong in the Flathead Valley. Normally when we think of greed, we think of lusting after money. While this is true, it is also true that this spirit causes people to lust after fame. In the church, certain leaders have lusted after recognition and fame both nationally and regionally. Some have wanted to be the top leader, even when that was not their assignment from the Lord. This dark ruler influences some believers to lust after the attention of people in the church. Believers may desire others to recognize and exalt their prophetic gift or their anointing. These people are greedy after attention or popularity and will use even the gifts of God to draw others to themselves. These ones take the glory away from God and try to direct it to themselves.
Witchcraft
A Jezebel spirit was definitely operating in certain ministries in the Flathead Valley. Certain leaders wanted power and control. They expected believers to only attend their ministry. To go to other meeting places was discouraged and believers were even shamed for doing so. Jezebel wanted servants of her ministry, and was threatened by other ministries. She needed to maintain control of her sheep, and did so by using manipulation. Thankfully only some of the leaders in the Flathead Valley were controlled by this spirit, but many believers had been damaged by this evil power. It sucks the life out of God’s people, and imprisons them in a religious system.
Leviathan worked closely with Jezebel. This spirit confuses communication and twists words (Isaiah 27:1). It distorts what people are saying, and causes listeners to hear something different than what is actually being said. This witchcraft creates discord among the brethren, and makes people hard of hearing (spiritually speaking). Leviathan would attack believers or disciples that were attempting to pursue Jesus with their whole hearts. It had such a foothold in the religious system and it used that power to oppress the church.
Lying
This Satanic power also did much damage in the Church of the Flathead Valley. This spirit propagated a false gospel in that area, and in other regions of Montana. It sowed a false grace gospel among the church, which seeds bore much fruit. This false doctrine caused many pastors to only focus on the love and mercy of the Father, while rejecting the judgment of the Almighty Godhead and the fear of the Lord. Lying doctrines and mindsets promoted a false image of God, which led to unrepentant sinful lifestyles in the Flathead Valley of Montana. This spirit fought against anyone who proclaimed righteousness and a right way of living. It persecuted anyone who stated God is a righteous Judge. These lies and deception remain one of the greatest hindrances of revival. The Lord God must be proclaimed exactly who the word and the Spirit say He is, and not who our thoughts and feelings make Him to be.
Source and Empowerment of these Ruling Powers
Georgia Penniman indicated in her notes that these spirits were given authority to rule over the Flathead Valley because of the agreement and curses brought forth by the Native Americans. The natives to the area called upon and placed the spirits over that region in order to protect the valley, and to keep tribal enemies and white settlers out. This could be true in many other regions of Montana, and is a major reason why Montana is a dangerous place in the spirit. The heaviness and darkness could be felt in the valley from these spirits, and especially in the winter with so much cloud cover and lack of sunshine. A beautiful setting in the natural with panoramic views of snow capped mountains, pristine lakes, and thick forests; but dark and dreary in the spirit.
Solutions
Georgia indicated that it would take a united effort of a number of ministries to stand together in agreement to push back the oppression. To see a change in the Flathead Valley of Montana, at least a remnant of the church would have to stand together to take away the legal right for the enemy to be there, and then hold the ground.
The challenge still remains. The principalities and powers have continued to divide leadership, and by doing so have divided the house of God. As Jesus stated, “A house divided against itself cannot stand.” As long as the house of God is divided against itself in Montana and other places, revival will tarry. The Holy Spirit will move when other ruling spirits our dealt with in various regions across the United States. Principalities’ main attacks involve creating the “Divided States of America” so that the church will be under their oppression, and not have the spiritual power necessary to drive them out of various regions. Humbling ourselves, repenting, and unifying in our pursuit of Jesus Christ is the answer. Then the Holy Spirit will release the oil of unity to sustain His movement and push back the forces of darkness.
Unfortunately the entire church in various regions will most likely not participate in this. However the Lord can use a unified remnant to establish His will in a region. This will require the joining of leadership (Ephesians 4:11), and believers who are actually on the journey of discipleship. Casual Christianity will not succeed against these forces of darkness. Burning witnesses of the Master Jesus Christ who are unifying in one accord under the leadership of the Holy Spirit will prevail against these spiritual forces of wickedness.
Repentance in the church is necessary in order for the church in the Flathead Valley of Montana to be properly positioned for a movement of the Holy Spirit. The rejection of the Lord as the righteous Judge must be repented of. Jesus prophesied judgment over Jerusalem because they did not repent (Luke 19:41-44), and He did so while ministering as a New Testament Prophet. Many leaders and believers in Montana have rejected this aspect of the Lord through their doctrines. This hurts the heart of the Father when we don’t want to know and love all of who He is. We must repent for hurting Him. The Lord gave me a message for the Flathead Valley in the summer of 2015. If repentance does not occur in this region, the Lord will remove the lamp stand (His church) from the region, as He states that He will do (Revelation 2:1-7). Here is the link for the message I released to the church in Flathead Valley Montana: Returning to Our First Love.
Messages that portray the “false grace” of God must also be repented of. The Lord gives grace to overcome sin, not to stay bound in it and certainly not to justify sinning. The apostles who wrote the scriptures teach the exact opposite of the false grace message. We must return to the foundation of the word of God. Failure to reject the false grace message will hinder a movement of God in Montana.
The Next Generation of Leadership
The failure to raise up the next generation of leadership must also be repented of by the leadership in various regions of Montana. I am not saying all leaders have failed to do this, but many have. In 2016 I was invited to be apart of a leadership meeting with a number of the pastors in the Flathead Valley. I informed the pastor conducting the prayer and unity meeting that I could not attend during a certain week, because my family would be out of state on a pre-planned trip. Shortly after that, the pastor scheduled the meeting for the week that I was going to be out of town.
As a young leader, this was crushing to me. I viewed it as disrespectful, and the furtherance of division that had longed plagued the valley. One of Jesus’ highest priorities was to raise up future leaders, and to involve them. But this pastor didn’t care to involve me, even after I had been invited. This was not the goodness and compassion of the Father. We can preach about the love of God, but do our lives demonstrate that love to others by our actions?
I was devastated by being excluded, and not cared about enough to be included. This caused spiritual damage and hurt in me. The Lord taught me through all of this as a good Father does. He showed me how I should treat others, by allowing me to be poorly treated. He showed me what not to do. He taught me to genuinely care about others and want them to succeed in their callings. Most importantly, the Lord used this event to further crucify my self-life. He put to death my desire to be included and be respected among leadership. My Master was Himself rejected by leadership in His day, and I had to follow in His footsteps if I was truly His disciple. At the time it hurt really bad, but the cross-life working in me has yielded fruit.
Today I do not have a need or desire to “be someone” or be accepted among other leaders. I only care for the will of my Father, and want to see His plans and purposes come to pass. I have been delivered from the delusion of seeking my destiny, and now seek the destiny of Jesus Christ. The Lord can use our hurts and disappointments to bring Jesus forth in us. He can turn our worst times into the glorious character of His Son. I have been delivered from wanting leadership to acknowledge me, and Christ the leader has been coming forth in me. Acceptance and approval from Jesus is more than enough. It is life.
The Father has washed me and cleansed me of that painful season. I no longer hold resentment. A root of bitterness does not have a place in my heart. So I can say with absolute purity, we must not damage the younger generation. We have to treat them like we want to be treated. This is the pure and right way forward. Each generation needs to honor the other generation. It’s not one sided or at least it shouldn’t be. Repentance in this area is a major key to revival.
Repentance to the Native Americans
Georgia Penniman mentioned in her notes that a major key for displacing the principalities and powers was to seek forgiveness from the Native Americans for crimes committed by the settlers in Montana (including sins by the U.S. government). I feel like these issues have been addressed over the past 20 years by Georgia and other faithful intercessors in Montana. The Lord does not want us trapped in a continual cycle of thinking we need more repentance for generations to come. Once you repent and ask for forgiveness, it is finished. Christ’s sacrifice is powerful enough to put this and every other issue to rest. The enemy seeks to trap us in an ongoing cycle of self-abasement which stems from the self-life. But Christ brings newness of life, and the old passes away.
Those believers who choose to stay bound in a continual cycle of repentance are actually disrespecting the cross and belittling its power. When we repent of sins and ask for forgiveness, they are cleansed by the blood of Jesus. If sins have been forgiven, there no longer remains the need for prayers, intercession, and to talk about the subject. To do so is counterproductive for the Kingdom of God. Intercessors must let this issue be settled and finished. The Holy Spirit is moving onward. Please see my teaching on The New Creation / One New Man for further revelation on this subject.
If we continue to repent for the same thing year after year, we are moving into the area of unbelief. If we actually believe our prayers are powerful and effective, then why do we need to repent and ask for forgiveness over and over again? Can you see how the enemy traps some intercessors in this bondage? Faith keeps us moving forward, and not camped out in the past. If some people want to remain in unforgiveness, that is out of our hands. Jesus commanded everyone to forgive, and we cannot force people to forgive. That is between them and the Lord.
Not Receiving the Lord’s Messengers
The church in the Flathead Valley is very strong in pastoral ministry. I have discovered that sometimes pastoral ministries do not recognize or receive apostolic or prophetic ministries. The gift of prophecy is much different from the prophetic ministry. Sometimes it’s difficult to discern young apostles and prophets since their ministries can take decades to mature. The young apostles Jesus choose were occasionally arguing over which one of them was the greatest, highlighting their immaturity (Luke 22:24). Therefore, sometimes it takes some spiritual discernment to recognize young messengers of the Lord. With certainty, I have seen messenger ministries rejected in the Flathead Valley. When we reject the Lord’s messengers, we are actually rejecting Jesus Himself (and the Father):
““The one who listens to you listens to Me; and the one who rejects you rejects Me; and the one who rejects Me rejects Him [My heavenly Father] who sent Me.”” (Luke 10:16 AMP)
Failure to properly discern the Lord’s messengers has lead to rejecting some of them sent to the Flathead Valley. This also means that Jesus has been rejected as well, and nothing could be more serious than this. The remnant church must come together in deep repentance for rejecting the Lord. The Spirit of God will not move in power until this occurs. Prayers for revival and reformation will most likely not be answered until this critical issue is addressed. Jesus sends His messengers to every city or place he is about to go in order to test the hearts of people (Luke 10:1). If believers cannot recognize the messenger is sent by Jesus, then they are spiritually blind and unable to receive Jesus. If believers don’t receive the messenger that was sent, they are at great risk of fulfilling this prophecy of Jesus:
“But whatever city you enter and they do not welcome you, go out into its streets and say, ‘Even the dust of your city which clings to our feet we wipe off in protest against you [breaking all ties]; yet understand this, that the kingdom of God has come near [and you rejected it].’ I tell you, it will be more bearable in that day [of judgment] for Sodom than for that city.” (Luke 10:10-12 AMP)
Milk not Meat
The church in the Flathead Valley mainly sits under pastoral ministry. Pastoral ministry has the assignment of nurturing, counseling, and establishing healthy relationships (including family). Pastoral ministry is a ministry of milk. Milk is foundational and extremely important. Milk is needed for spiritually young believers, and brings balance to the body of Christ. Examples of spiritual milk are messages on salvation, the love of the Father, healing, the baptism of the Holy Spirit, and the laying on of hands. These are elementary principals for believers in spiritual elementary school.
Apostles and prophets bring meat. Solid food is for the spiritually mature and maturing. Solid food is the full Gospel. The full Gospel is transformation into the image of Christ, the cross-life working in a believer, discipleship, entering into the rest of God, intimacy through waiting on the Lord and beholding His glory, and Christ being formed in a person inwardly and growing to the measure of the stature of fullness. The full gospel is much more than simply preaching the gifts of the Spirit and miracles. The full gospel is Christ (who is the Gospel) possessing us and living through us to the degree that we become the bride and overcome this world. Apostolic and prophetic ministers must be accepted in the Flathead Valley and other Montana regions if we want to see the church come to fullness.
Failed Revival of the 1990’s
Georgia Penniman has written and described a small revival that took place for a short time within the Flathead Valley in the 90’s:
“In 1994-1996, at the time the Toronto Blessing, revival started among the youth in the Flathead Valley. 200-250 young people were showing up to worship the Lord at a weekly Friday or Saturday night meeting in Whitefish. It was led by a young man from back east, who was a worship leader and evangelist. The Love of God and in-filling of the Holy Spirit was the emphasis, with a lot of “carpet time” in the presence of the Lord. Sin and holiness were not a part of what was taught. He expected the churches to disciple the young people, however the churches did not pick that up. Two or three independent men came in with a “Shepherding Style” method, and discipled many of the new converts. The revival began to wane.”
“During this time, Jack Deere came to pastor the Presbyterian Church in Whitefish. His focus was to bring the Holy Spirit, the prophetic, and gifts of the Spirit to that congregation. It did not go over that well. A part of the congregation broke off and started “Fatherʼs House Church” between Whitefish and Kalispell. That lasted for a while.”
“Then they had a pastorʼs gathering, as pastors in the valley were more open to praying together. Jack Deere was the speaker. They opened with worship, and Ron Jones who was apart of Montana’s Intercessors, was asked to lead a time of prayer before Jack spoke. At one point during the prayer time, Ron felt he was to bow down and get on his face before the Lord. When Jack got up to speak, he openly rebuked Ron in front of the pastors, saying Ron was in the flesh, and getting on his face was not of God. That was the last time pastors met together. They all went back into their own churches and have not ever come back out. With exception of a few.”
Georgia Penniman then describes the aftermath:
“The effort toward a city wide church was over. Trust was broken at the rebuke at the pastorʼs meeting. Leaders and believers did not understand the bigger picture of the city wide church. There was a battle over who would lead the city wide church. Leaders feared losing members of their flock. The youth were not discipled. People were wounded from this event and others (church splits occurred). Although the people have forgiven and still follow the Lord, they no longer hope or trust in a revival to come again through teaching, preaching, and the prophetic. There are people who still need to be healed.”
Failed Startup of Revival with the Youth
In 2015, I preached a message at a small gathering in Kalispell. Steve White, a pastor, graciously facilitated the meeting. Val Munson and Steve White also ministered in those meetings. While I was preaching the Lord gave Georgia a prophetic message. The Lord told her, “It’s time for this generation to pick up the revival that started with the youth” (in the 1990s).
Once I heard this word, fire burned inside of me. I was ready to pick up the mantle and see the revival breakout all across the valley. I began reaching out to various ministries and youth ministers, to see if they wanted to be apart of a gathering. Some turned me down and some didn’t respond. Apathy was prevalent. A worship leader I knew refused to do the meeting because I believed in the judgment of God. For example, I believe that Ananias and Sapphira came under the judgment of God just like the scriptures state (Acts 5:1-11). You will be shamed and persecuted by some believers if you actually believe the Bible. Many believers do not believe the scriptures, but have turned aside to their traditions and doctrines.
I then asked some young leaders to be apart of the gathering from a certain ministry. A few months before one of these people had given me a corporate prophetic word saying, “You have the ability to think outside the box. You carry ideas that the church needs.” Well, the person told me that he needed to ask his pastor and get permission from “his covering.” The person’s covering did not allow him to participate. At that point I wondered if some believers actually believe the prophetic words that they are given by God for others. I had a meeting with the pastor and the pastor told me that they would not be involved in the meetings, because I believed in the judgment of God. The meeting did not go well. For an understanding of the danger and error of the Shepherding movement, please refer to my article: Spiritual Covering and Authority.
The Lord highlighted some believers from an Amish community in Libby to me who I had known for a few years. I contacted them to see if they would help with the meeting and lead worship. They agreed. Also, my friend Susan from Great Falls agreed to help as well. However for me, too much damage had already been done in me. I was hurt by all the rejection I had suffered. I didn’t understand how bad it truly was, so like a good solider, I continued marching and thinking I was okay.
In October of 2015, I received a public prophetic word from James Goll at a conference in Kalispell, Montana hosted by Val and Linda Munson. The word stated that I needed to be equipping the saints, instead of merely holding meetings; and that the Lord had given me an equipping gift and set me apart for this. Naturally this led me to believe that I was on the right path, and should continue with the meetings as scheduled. To the minister and to me, this seemed like a “now” prophetic word. However, at the time I did not have the spiritual maturity to understand that some words take years to come to pass. My self-life wanted it to be a “now” word, but it was for the future; when Christ would be formed in me in a much greater degree.
In 2015, I was still an immature believer and not ready to lead a revival. I had only been saved for 11 years, and really following the Lord as a disciple for seven years. My self-life was not yet crucified, so I missed the warning signs. The principality of division had been working to divide the movement before it got started, and I mistakenly thought I could handle it. The Leviathan spirit had been twisting the truth about the meeting, and some leaders were already distrusting me. They thought I was attempting to steal people from their ministries (which I was not and they were not the leader’s people anyway but God’s people). This hurt me even further. At that point, I should have backed off the meeting and taken time to heal and mature. But I was in the school of the Spirit, and the school of hard-knocks. I was getting attacked spiritually from all sides, but I kept going.
On 12/12/15, I held the first meeting in Kalispell, Montana. There was probably around seventy-five people in attendance. Susan played the keyboard as the meeting started and the anointing came. My friend Joesph Miller led worship and the presence of God flowed beautifully. Everything was going well, until fear gripped me. I never struggle with fear, and I knew this was a major spirit coming against me.
When I gave the message that night it didn’t come off like I intended. I preached hard hoping to break the demonic power coming against me, but it came off wrong to the people attending. The heavy spiritual power attacking me caught me off guard. I failed to preach Christ, the crucified life, and the high calling in Christ Jesus. I could feel I had missed it. I wasn’t ready.
That night driving home, I shook from the spiritual warfare. Confusion flooded me and I could hardly think straight. A dark cloud descended on me that took at least three months to break off. This was the beginning of my “dark night of the soul” that would last three and a half years. Back into the wilderness I went. Like Elijah, I would not emerge again until the Lord gave the command.
I learned a monumental lesson: never get ahead of God’s timing. Wait for Him to move, and don’t ever try to make Him move. If you get ahead of His timing, you open yourself up to spiritual warfare that you are not ready for. The spirit that attacked me was not a demon, it was a ruling prince. My self-life was excited about the prophetic word of revival starting with the youth and I wanted to run with it. In my spiritual immaturity, I missed it and let the community down. The Flathead Valley needed revival, but it failed.
I crawled back into my cave, hurt and broken. The Lord would spend the next six years healing, restoring, crucifying, and bringing forth His Son in me. He taught me to wait for Him and to do things His way. Please refer to my PDF book for a more complete testimony of our experiences in the church of the Flathead Valley: The Spiritual Journey.
While I wasn’t the one to ignite revival in the Flathead Valley of Montana, someone else could be. The Lord is searching for those who have been stripped of their own will, plans, and destiny so they can be vessels of the Lord’s will. There is understanding in this article that can aid in the ignition of a fiery revival. There needs to be a spark to start a raging spiritual fire. Only one spark. Who will be that spark?
Rebuilding of the House of God
“And your people will rebuild the ancient ruins; You will raise up and restore the age-old foundations [of buildings that have been laid waste]; You will be called Repairer of the Breach, Restorer of Streets with Dwellings.” (Isaiah 58:12 AMP)
If the church in various regions of Montana repents, the Lord will again send his messengers out. The Lord’s apostles and prophets will be used to rebuild the house of God (which is the people of God). Each believer is a living stone, and the Lord will fashion these living stones together into His spiritual houses. Leaders will no longer own the living stones or the houses of God. The Lord Almighty will rule His house. The glory and presence of the Lord will return to His spiritual house like we have only read about in the scriptures. Please read the following article for a more complete revelation on this subject: Rebuilders and Houses of Glory.
The rebuilding of the Lord’s house is necessary in order to hold the glory of God. Pray for the Lord to release the builders and to restore His glory. Georgia Penniman may be in Heaven but she is not dead. She is still speaking. Then Holy Spirit has teamed her and I up to release this message to the church in Montana for this hour.
“again He designates a certain day, saying in David, “Today,” after such a long time, as it has been said: “Today, if you will hear His voice, Do not harden your hearts.” (Hebrews 4:7 NKJV)
